SC cracks down on mob lynching; asks Centre to frame new law

Taking cognizance of incidents of mob lynching and vigilantism, the Supreme court has asked centre to consider framing a new law against mob violence.

Giving its observations on a petition against lynching by cow vigilantes, the apex court called such incidents as horrendous acts of mobocracy.

SC made it clear that no individual can take law into his own hands.

The apex court also directed the state governments to take appropriate action and said that in case of fear and anarchy, the state has to act against violence.
